Idaho Extreme Adventures started its life with a passion for off-road adventure and exploring the St. Anthony Sand Dunes and surrounding areas. What started with the purchase of a campground in 2010 has developed into a full-service vacation destination attracting off road enthusiasts from all over the country. “With the growth of the UTV segment, more of our guests were interested in longer stays and exploring beyond the sand dunes” says Mike McGroarty. “We dedicated hundreds of hours and thousands of miles off-road to identify scenic routes and become the only licensed Idaho Outfitter and Guide Service in East Idaho providing OHV guided tours”. Working directly with the Idaho Outfitters and Guides License Board, US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and the Idaho Department of Lands, our professionally guided tours are the safest and most relaxed way to explore the trails and terrain between Idaho Dunes RV at the St. Anthony Sand Dunes Recreation area, and Lakeside Lodge in Island Park, ID, very near West Yellowstone, MT. To complement our all day UTV guided tours, we now offer guided military vehicle tours with a stop at the widely known Civil Defense Cave landmark, as well as scenic helicopter tours of the St. Anthony Sand Dunes and surrounding area.

Mike McGroarty has been an off-road, aviation, and outdoor enthusiast his entire life. At the age of 15, Mike earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and by that time had over 300 nights of wilderness camping experience. His love for the outdoors turned into a passion for off-roading as soon as his first job earned him enough income to purchase his first sport ATV. This first ATV started an addiction for rock crawling, trail riding and sand duning that still occupies 100% of Mike's interest to this day.

Garrett McGroarty

Lead Guide / Helicopter Pilot

Garrett McGroarty was born into the “Idaho Dunes Way of Life”. At 3 years old, Garrett started his off-road passion on a Kawasaki KFX 50. After a multitude of increasingly larger and more capable vehicles, he now enjoys off-roading in his BFD Revo sand car. Garrett has logged more miles between Idaho Dunes RV and West Yellowstone than anyone in the area. At a young age, Garrett developed a passion for helicopters and aviation. Before graduating from high school, Garrett earned both his private helicopter license (PPL-H) and commercial helicopter license (CPL-H). With advanced pilot training from the best instructors in the industry at Helisafe in Southern California, Garrett has mastered the Robinson R44 Raven II helicopters flight systems and emergency procedures. Rest assured, you are flying with one of the safest and most experienced commercial helicopter pilot behind the stick.

LEAD GUIDE

Tony Didzerkis hails from Anaconda Montana and has been involved in off-roading and visiting the St. Anthony Sand Dunes Recreation area for over 20 years. Tony is a Licensed Idaho Guide and spends most of his summers on site at Idaho Dunes RV enjoying the sand, trails, leading guided tours, lending a helping hand during large visitation periods, fishing and occasionally driving his figure 8 race car at local events. Tony’s mechanical background is well received when out on the trail and he is always willing to jump in to help a guest or friend in need. This is the guy you want on your team when you are far from home and in need of a helping hand…
